Must travel 🧳 Visiting #Portugal was a true pleasure and has been surfacing as a true design influence in some of the new work we are developing. The rich cultural history and craftsmanship is really impressive. Clean and modern met rustic and historical in new elegant & fascinating ways. The #Azulejos tiles seen throughout the cities are beautiful ceramic tiles that adorn buildings, churches, and public spaces throughout Portugal and create a colorful and elaborate pedestrian experience.

Plumber today, architect tomorrow. Do what you design. Really happy with this as a temporary solution until final cabinetry arrives for install. We ensured it’s an easy sink and counter removal for that. Plug and play! The @kohler sink turned out amazing although there was a few mounting tricks needed to account for the butcher block thickness. Mineral oil finish applied next week to protect it in the meantime. The butcher block matches a beautiful custom island built by the clients we will share in another post. Scrap butcher block is going to be fabricated into awesome oversized cutting boards Special thanks to our plumber contacts for giving the advice we needed!

When structural hits the fan! It’s not all pretty pictures. Actually, it’s very rarely pretty pictures get projects built. This structural coordination part of the design process is always critical, incorporating the required structural considerations, and accommodating for those needs in feasibility and economy. This is always exciting and the project becomes more real.

It’s that time of year to reflect. For us that means getting back to our roots, something which can become difficult as we are all absorbed in the fast changes in our industry. WHO are we? WHY do we do what we do? WHAT do we do? HOW do we do it? We are problem solvers, creators, doers. We are strong believers that good design enhances the everyday experience. 🪶 The Floating Ribbon Bench: Solid oak with concealed brackets. 3 different miter joints on the oak fascia reinforced with aluminum angle was the most challenging portion of the build. The ribbon edge & waterfall drop play off the kitchen counter design. Can’t wait for the custom table delivery! #fabrication #MAKE #build #bench #design #interiors
